What a lovely gem! Quiet location convenient for many local hikes an clean and comfortable rooms. What really sets it apart are the staff who were all absolutely wonderful and the food. New menu each day full of absolutely delicious options! Can't wait to come back and highly recommend!
We popped in for a coffee after walking…what a find! Beautiful surroundings and fantastic friendly staff. We decided to come back for an evening meal to finish our holiday and were not disappointed.The food was amazing ,we can’t recommend this hotels restaurant highly enough. Hats off to some very talented chefs! Not forgetting the other staff who made it all work seamlessly.
Gorgeous afternoon tea for a friends’ mums’ special birthday. Everything was delicious and lovely waitress who took time to take photos for us. Beautiful view from the elegant sitting room.
This is a gorgeous hotel. The location is amazing. The views are amazing. The rooms are comfortable. The front of house staff are very friendly and efficient and the food is 5 star. The reason I have given it 4 stars is the housekeeping is absolutely woeful. 3 out of 5 days we returned to the room at 4pm and it hadn’t been made. We had to ask three days in a row for the room to be serviced. At the prices charged this should not be the case. When it was serviced it was to a very low standard. The bed was made but that is about it. Absolutely nothing was cleaned. The house keeping really let the place down and made our stay much less pleasurable than it ought to have been.
Lovely comfortable hotel in a stunning location. Room spotless and modern with a cosy feel. Food was delicious and all the staff are so helpful, friendly and polite. Special shout out to Jason who cannot do enough for you. Would recommend this hotel and we will return.
Everything . Location is just perfect, quiet and remote in Borrowdale valley , the building is beautiful and the room (no 19) was an amazing size and perfectly clean and had everything we needed. The view from our room was to the garden and over the garden there was a field full of sheep which we absolutely loved . Breakfast was great. Parking was always available and the hotel grounds are amazing all round . If you like a quiet hotel deep in nature this is the one for you . Would gladly go again
We enjoyed a delightful 2 nights stay. All the staff were more than helpful and we enjoyed our room when we sorted out a couple of snags, like an uplift step to the bathroom... not good during the night! The sitting area was a bit cramped and we wondered if anyone had really thought about the furniture. We were a bit sad not to be able to enjoy the wonderful view from the roof light windows and the very small window seat near the bed. The public areas were recently renovated and very comfortable. The highlight of our stay was the delicious food... worthy of a Michelin star the dinner was as good as any we have eaten in the Lake District. ... a credit to the chef and his team. All the staff were friendly and helpful. However we understand the hotel has changed hands this year and changes maybe afoot. This will be sad as at present it is a special gem and has enjoyed a returning clientele over many years. We hope the new owners will realise why people have enjoyed this special place and keep its unique atmosphere. If they do we will return and recommend. Thank you and best wishes to all the present staff.
Stayed here for our anniversary. Room was spotless, lovely comfy bed and great layout. The shower was one of the best I’ve had in any hotel I’ve stayed in. Breakfast was really tasty. Jay who works there is a really nice guy and all other staff are polite and helpful. Great walks near by and it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of Keswick. We will definitely come back

Beautiful hotel in an unbelievably picturesque location. The staff are friendly, attentive, and helpful. Our ground floor room was huge, clean, and comfortable. Incredible food in the restaurant with a lovely view across the valley - if you can get a window table, go for it.
